Discover Phoenix Rainez: Author Spotlight

Phoenix Rainez (what a cool name) welcome to Author Spotlight. I’m sure we would all love to know if that is your real name.

Bio

phoenix rainez

Born and raised in Zimbabwe, and now living in England. I’m a wife and mother of two daughters and four adorable young grandchildren. My work day revolves around caring for elderly with dementia. I’m an incurable romantic, reading romances and always on the lookout for a good romantic film. My favourite films without a doubt are Romeo and Juliet, Titanic and Love Actually. Paranormal romances would have to be Twilight and Vampire Diaries and yes I have read Fifty Shades and seen the film.

I write under the name Phoenix Rainez. Why did I choose this name instead of my own, well to cut a long story short, my husband thought I needed a romantic name to suit the romance stories I write. When the question was thrown out to family and friends, I can only remember one person saying I should use my own name. So the dye was cast and to all my readers I am known as Phoenix Rainez. Phoenix lives in a world of dreams with her head in the clouds, she conjures up romantic stories to bring to her readers.

Second Chances by Phoenix Rainez is available in paperback and Kindle at Amazon.

The Interview

Why do you write?

To put into words all the stories fighting to get out of my head.

What are you currently working on?

My fantasy romance THE COLOUR OF LOVE where two strangers are connected through their dreams and fall in love.

From where did you draw your inspiration to write your latest book?

Dreams.

Which writers had the most influence on your decision to write?

A young scholar Beth Reekless who first published her story The Kissing Booth on Wattpad.  I heard her radio interview after my friends told me about her and Wattpad and how a Traditional publisher had offered her a book deal.  I eventually plucked up the courage to post my first story on Wattpad too.

What was the last book you read?

The Healing Touch by Angelina Kalahari

Do you suffer from writers’ block?

Yes, quite often.

Biggest frustration as a self-published author?

This would have to be marketing. Valuable writing and editing time is taken up by getting the word out about your book and keeping your social media presence active.

Reviews for books are vital. Any tips on getting more reviews?

I wish I had successful tips, but it’s very difficult. People buy your book, read, but sadly forget to write reviews.

Do you use social media? If so, do you like using it?

Yes I do use social media and enjoy the interaction with other authors and reading about their ups and downs and knowing I am not alone in my writing struggles.

Who is your biggest fan?

Gosh, I don’t think I have one.

Many people have a bucket list. What is #1 on yours?

To see the Northern Lights.

Any special message for your readers?

The best way to let not only me but any author, know you enjoyed their book is to write an honest review. But before you write your review, just remember the author has poured their heart and soul into their book, which constituted many hours of editing, re-writing and sleepless nights.

I’m sure the last answer resonates with all writers. Thank you so much for ‘appearing’ on the Author Spotlight series. It was interesting and I am pleased to have got to ‘meet’ you!
