How to Drive Like an Idiot in Bacolod is the title of my new eBook shortly to be published.
I acknowledge that the use of the word ‘idiot’ was inspired by a Bacolod Facebook Group called I Park Like An Idiot.
It is based on the series of articles that I posted here on my blog last year.
There are additional chapters including one dealing with issues like corruption at the LTO and how it adversely impacts upon our safety on the highways, byways and streets of the Philippines.
Of course, the use of the word ‘idiot’ in the title is tongue-in-cheek! There are plenty of drivers in the idiot category without anyone telling them how to become an idiot – if you get my drift 🙂
The ‘how to’ part of the book is a chapter on defensive driving skills. I spell out in the book just why this foreigner is qualified to teach driving skills.
The book is not a rant about driving in Bacolod. It takes a serious look at some of the problems here and attempts to educate.
I have been encouraged by all the fine people of Bacolod who have spoken to me about the problems. To a man, and woman, they are all wanting to see change and improvement in road behavior. I thank you all for your encouragement.

Great piece, Steve! Incisive and detailed. We need an “outsider” to remind us that the everyday traffic practices we have become used to are wrong. Now you know why I prefer to take taxis or have a driver when I move around the city and the province.
