Blinkist – How to Really Save Time and Influence People

blinkist

Hey all you great people, have a great weekend! I have to share this with you. It is an app I came across called Blinkist. Wow! It is a treasure trove of information. And, all at a finger tip and easily read. As they say it gives you the “main concepts of an entire book in 15 minutes”!

Think how useful that is.  If you are curious like me, then you may often want to know the essentials just so you understand what the heck ‘they’ are on about! It’s nice to know some facts before you opine!

I can think of many uses for it. For example, ever been to a job interview and felt a bit uneasy in case certain questions arise? I have. Now you can use this app and get up to speed so you can hold your own in any conversation.

One of the things I love about this app is the free trial. Nothing to lose by trying it. In the interests of full disclosure, I am an affiliate partner of Blinkist. I earn a small commission if you use their service. You pay the same price whether or not you click on my affiliate links to the Blinkist home page.

More about Blinkist –

What exactly is Blinkist?

Blinkist takes great works of non-fiction and distills them into powerful, made-for-mobile units. Our blinks, 2-minute-reads built around memorable key messages, give you the main concepts of an entire book in 15 minutes versus the hours or days you’d need to devote to an entire book. Our quest? To inspire busy modern readers with concise, accessible knowledge.

There are already many book summarizing services out there. What makes Blinkist different?

Mobile Friendliness: We don’t force existing content onto a smartphone screen. Instead, we created our own mobile-native format: blinks. They’re clear, concise, and easy on the eyes.

Depth: Blinks get to the bottom of complex topics to bring you the deepest insights and the details that make them memorable. No surface skims here.

Why should I use Blinkist?

Blinkist brings new knowledge and inspiring ideas into your daily routine. Our format helps you make the most of those moments in the margins – your commute, time spent in line, or any time you’re waiting around for what’s next. Now, instead of checking your social feeds ad infinitum, you’ve got easy access to knowledge from bestselling non-fiction books.

Does Blinkist dumb down the non-fiction books it condenses into blinks?

Definitely not. Our writers take special care to extract the most important messages from the books we cover and present them accurately, intelligently, and in a way that’s true to the author’s intent. We’re here to spark curiosity and help people access the knowledge in non-fiction books more easily – not to water things down.

Is Blinkist stealing profits from authors and publishers?

No. No avid reader who currently buys books will stop once they discover Blinkist. Our blinks are concise and compelling, but necessarily limited by their format. Full length books offer more in-depth discussion, rich examples, references, and explanations that blinks can’t fit. We hope that by giving people an easy way to discover new knowledge, Blinkist will bring authors more readers and help get more great books noticed and read.

Why does Blinkist focus on nonfiction rather than fiction?

Non-fiction’s a bit like a table: a careful look reveals its main parts, how they fit together, and what each element contributes to the piece’s overall function. Writing a clear, outlined description of the table works in part due to its very nature.

Fiction, on the other hand, is teeming with sub-plots, ambiance, and metaphor – it’s a lot more like a painting than a table. And how do you outline a painting? Well, we’ll get back to you when we’ve figure that out.

Writers need to read a lot too.  That applies whether you are writing fiction or non-fiction. You must have heard the saying “there is a book in everyone.” Why not tell your story?
