Self Development Articles: Entrepreneurs

Hello, and welcome to another summary of an article I found on the web using the tag ‘self development articles.’

You can view all the previous summaries in the series by clicking on this category link.

Today’s Self Development Article – Entrepreneurs

45 Great Websites to Make Some Extra Money is another listicle by Kristyna Z..  By my reckoning it falls into the category of self development. The terms self development, personal development and self improvement cover such a wide range of subjects.

Many people have that need to earn extra cash or perhaps start up a business from home. This article provides some useful links to do just that or give you ideas. Entrepreneurs or wannabe entrepreneurs have to start somewhere.

About the Author and Lessons Learned From The Article

Kristyna says this about herself on her website –

Kristyna Z. has founded and bootstrapped MAQTOOB, a unique app discovery platform for entrepreneurs & small businesses. So far, she has personally handpicked and curated 2000+ apps in 125 business categories for the site.

She frequently blogs on useful business tools and MINDFUL entrepreneurship. Some of her posts went viral with 3+ million views altogether. Her articles have been published in TIME, The New York Observer, Business Insider, The Next Web and many others.

Together with her team she ORGanizes workshops in developing and emerging countries to help early-stage entrepreneurs launch their businesses fast and cheap. She also gives talks to encourage building businesses with social impact.

She is a digital nomad. You can try to track her here.

Wow! A very impressive resumé!

The main lesson I learned from the article was to only list the quality stuff. Kristyna resists the urge to fluff out the list and turn it into 101 best web sites.

She is beginning to change my mind about listicles as I have never been a big fan of the genre.

My Take

My view on this article is simple. It caters in the main for people who are not ‘in the know.’ It is a really useful guide on where to start looking if you need to earn extra cash. Or, maybe you have an idea for your own business.

This is as good a place as any to start. It also helps those who are maybe lacking in sufficient confidence to go out and action their plans. If you suffer from shyness or social anxiety brought on by a lack of confidence, then you may want to read this. Just click on this link.

I do have something to add about some of the freelance websites that she includes in her list. I have some personal experience of them. Upwork is fine for getting a start with your  freelancing skills. But most hirers on there want to pay peanuts! It can, however, introduce you to new opportunities. Curious? Get in touch and I will explain.

People Per Hour is also listed. For me, that didn’t work. Perhaps that was my fault but it didn’t help when they kept bombarding me with emails telling me I had been ‘”selected” to apply for a job. The trouble was that 99% of these jobs did not fit my own skills!

Conclusion

I recommend the read.  It is an easy read and has some important information in that it carries the links to some good sites.

Formal Education vs Self Development

Indeed, I am a great believer in self development. Formal education can only teach you so much. The rest is up to you. Learning is within the capacity of all. We do it as soon as we leave the womb and it should be a continuous process. You are never too old to learn.

Through my passage in life, I feel qualified to pass on my wisdom about self development. I feel so strongly about it that I intend to eventually offer one to one consultations to help anyone who is prepared to listen. Listening and learning are the easy bits. You as an individual have to implement those lessons. No one can do it except you!

You can be the most intelligent person on earth but without self- awareness and self development then you run the risk of stagnating. Even worse, you could go backwards.
