Vignettes of Life

Vignettes of life or more accurately of my life. ‘Hamlet’ is one of the most dangerous things ever set down on paper. All the big, unknowable questions like what it is to be a human being; the difference between sanity and insanity; the meaning of life and death; what’s real and not real. All these subjects can literally drive you mad. –  Michael Sheen It was a stone built bungalow with a decent size front and back garden. The bungalow was on the edge of a Dorset village and one could look from the large front window and see nothing; save for fields, trees, larks rising and the chalky hills before they dropped down to the English Channel. FavFotoFriday: Friends and Family

There is nothing in life more enjoyable than friends and family. These pictures are of my family in the Philippines. I am a lucky man. So what better than friends and family as the theme for this week’s #FavFotoFriday? The photos also show my good friend Phil from England with his Filipina girlfriend, Marilyn. Her home is close to Dumaguete and Phil was visiting there recently so an opportunity arose to go and meet them. An opportunity I was not going to miss. You may also note many of these photos involve food! The people of the Philippines love to eat! And, so do I! One of my other favorite pastimes is drinking beer as you can see. San Mig Pilsener agrees with me 🙂…

That is where I grew up from the age of 12 months. My father joined the Liverpool City Police Force in 1946 and Mum and I moved there in 1948. All this is a slight departure from the origins of FavFotoFriday. A series inspired by Sandy of Scribbles and Musings. But, what the heck, they are still favorite photos and…

Red or Blue? Confession Time

Red and Blue – Only Colors Right? Red or Blue? What does it mean to you? Those two colors mean a lot to me. I got to thinking about the color blue earlier today, and it set my train of thought rushing along the tracks, whistle-a-blowing, steam wildly escaping and pistons clanging. The confession is nothing to do with the “blues” or depression. I have suffered bouts of that affliction in my life and believe I have finally vanquished the black dog. The “fessing” up is to do with my football team, Liverpool Football Club.  They play in red. Bill Shankly made them play in an all red strip in the belief it made the players look bigger and stronger. Our city neighbors, Everton, play in blue. Royal…
