Now it’s only fair I insert some images of the other people mentioned in my book, namely Smiles and Buzz: Please consider buying and reading the book. Will This BBC Article Sell More Books?

Will This BBC Article Sell More Books? Now that is a good question and I have no idea of the answer. Generally speaking I am happy with the article as it is 99% accurate. Here it is in full and it can be found on the BBC news site.: Operation Julie: How I infiltrated a drugs gang By Dominic Blake BBC Radio Solent 2 October 2016 From the section Hampshire & Isle of Wight   Image copyright STEPHEN BENTLEYImage caption As Steve Jackson, Stephen Bentley lived out of the back of a van during the surveillance operation At the age of 29, Stephen Bentley, a fresh-faced detective, turned himself into Steve Jackson, a dope-smoking, hard-drinking hippy. BBC Radio Interview Stephen Bentley

A BBC Radio interview with Stephen Bentley today September 30, 2016 I am talking about the subject of my book Undercover: Operation Julie – The Inside Story and undercover policing in the UK. There is a second interview of some 40 minutes planned for next week.   These are some of the more recent reviews posted on Amazon: 5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating and compelling By donna on 14 September 2016 Format: Paperback Steven Bentley certainly provides a compelling depiction of not only one of the largest drug busts in history, but of the LSD manufacturing and trade in general. Philippines, War On Drugs and an Undercover Cop

This article first appeared on the Stephen Bentley – Author website. The recent publication of my book ‘Undercover: Operation Julie – The Inside Story‘ has opened up an interesting debate about the “war on drugs,” undercover policing and related issues. This is the first in a series of articles about that debate and some other issues raised by reviews of my book. What does the War on Drugs, an Undercover Cop and the Philippines have in common? There is a certain irony in a British ex-undercover cop living in the Philippines. He went undercover on one of the world’s largest drug busts, Operation Julie, and now advocates decriminalization along the lines of the example set by Portugal. Social media is inundated with #warondrugs hashtags associated… Read More

Good Cop Bad War: Book Review

Good Cop Bad War is co-written by a former British undercover cop, Neil Woods with JS Rafaeli.  Of course I was keen to read it in light of my own book about my undercover cop days due for publication next Wednesday, September 14, 2016. You can find Good Cop Bad War listed here on Amazon. I must confess that the book initially irritated me for reasons which become clear in my review below. Gradually the main message of Woods seeped into my head and I did my research. I now agree that the UK should follow Portugal’s ground-breaking example in decriminalizing drug use. There will be more to follow on that point eventually. Amazon Review A Must Read For All Interested In The Debate On Decriminalization… Read More

War on Drugs – Beware 1) Misinformation 2) Vested Interests

Disclosure: I have a book to sell and promote ‘Undercover: Operation Julie – The Inside Story.’ It is a true story of my undercover cop days infiltrating one of the world’s largest drug gangs. I make the disclosure in light of the words “vested interests” in the title of this piece. I, unlike some others, have no vested interests in the debate on drugs. As I wrote in my book, “I am   neither pro or anti-drugs.” I am all in favor of an intelligent, fact-based debate. But other than that, I have no vested interest in advocating a view about the so-called ‘War on Drugs.’ It was the BBC who said that Operation Julie was the start of the ‘War on Drugs.’ As I… Read More
